Keith Richards selling New York penthouse

Rolling Stone guitarist Keith Richards is selling his New York penthouse for $US12.2 million ($16.06 million).

The sale comes after Richards and his wife model Patti Hansen bought the luxe pad at 1 Fifth Ave, in 2014 for $US10.5 million.

Looking at the sleek, verging on clinical, interiors of the four-bedroom home with three terraces it is hard to imagine the rock ‘n’ roller living in such a home.  It certainly doesn’t scream rock star pad.

Features of the property include an all white palette, an open staircase with a leather bronzed handrail and master bedroom with spa-like bathroom.

The vast penthouse, in the landmark art deco One Fifth Avenue Building, was created from three individual apartments and has prime city views over the Manhattan skyline and Greenwich Village, according to online real estate journal, Curbed.

The couple, parents to fashion it girls Alexandra and Theodora Richards, are not the only high profile names who have resided in the building.

Among the who’s who of past residents are film directors Tim Burton and Brian De Palma.

How low can Jen go?

Jennifer Lopez has dropped the asking price of her LA home for the third time after it has failed to sell after a year on
the market.

The property in Hidden Hills in LA has now got a price tag of $US12.5 million ($16.4 million). She initially listed the sprawling nine-bedroom home for $US17 million according to the LA Times. Last year she also dropped the price to $US14.5 million, but failed to find a buyer at that price.

J.Lo and her then husband Marc Anthony bought the home, built in 1993, for $US8.2 million in late 2010.

Described as her “work-live” estate the home includes a work and entertainment wing with a recording studio, dance studio, 20-seat theatre and guest suite.

The home also features a dining room that seats 12, outdoor living room and an eight-car garage.

The 46-year-old mother of two has a history of taking time to off-load her multi-million dollar mansions. She eventually sold her Miami home, a 1929 Mediterranean revival villa, for $US33 million last year after being first listed in 2010. The property was bought by music producer Phil Collins.

Keeping up with the Kardashians

It might not compare with big sister Kim Kardashian’s Beverly Hills pad but younger brother Rob Kardashian’s newly purchased $US2.285 million ($3 million) LA pad is still rather nice.

He’s still within the grasp of the Kardashian clan, with the property in the upmarket Calabasas neighbourhood, also the home of sisters Kylie Jenner, along with Kourtney and Khloe.

The traditional style five-bedroom, built in 2005, home was bought through a family trust for the 28-year-old, who is known for his role in Keeping Up with the Kardashians and also has his own range of socks.

A dining room with high ceilings, gourmet kitchen with concealed butler’s pantry are key features of the house interiors.

Meanwhile the outdoor space is just as impressive with a swimming pool, spa, built-in bar and barbecue area. A fire pit makes year round outdoor entertaining very much an option.
