What's the first thing a reality television star does after eating a scorpion, headbutting a cake full of maggots and being booted off I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here?

Well, if you're Carson Kressley, you devour a large bowl of spaghetti bolognese before sprinting to the nearest hot shower.

The Queer Eye for a Straight Guy star told Fairfax Media he is disappointed he didn't make it to the finale, but is proud of how far he got considering he was parachuted into the jungle as an "intruder".

"I would have loved to have been there to the end, but it does feel good to be out of there to be honest," he said. "I had a fantastic time and I made some wonderful lifetime friends. I ate a scorpion and I lost four kilograms. Everyone wins."

As for who will take home the crown on Monday night, former AFL footballer Dane Swan is firming up as the crowd favourite.

But Kressley is of the view that one of the women left in the jungle - including ex-Idol winner Casey Donovan, singer Natalie Bassingthwaighte or former MKR contestant Ash Pollard - will emerge as the series' first female winner.

"I think it's going to be a queen of the jungle this year," he said. "If I can't be the queen, why can't we have a real lady as queen of the jungle?"

Kressley said while everyone on the show has had their ups and downs, he expects the women to bring it home due to their "wonderful" optimism and endurance while cut off from the rest of the world.

Meanwhile, the Queer Eye star has revealed the show's original producers have approached him to cameo in a remake set to be released on Netflix.

"The original producers of the show are doing the reboot and have said 'we'd love to have you involved'," he said. "So I'm staying tuned. I'd love to do a cameo or be the Charlie to the angels and not have to do all the work."

Kressley will also be filming season 10 of RuPaul's Drag Race in winter, with the much-anticipated ninth season scheduled to be released in the US on March 24. The reality star said there's never been a more important time for sexual diversity to take centre stage on TV and laptop screens across the world.

"We've made so much progress over gay rights since 2003," he said. "But sometimes our community and our allies can become complacent. A new administration leads to new supreme court judges, a new attorney-general. Instead of being fearful ... [TV shows like Queer Eye and RuPaul] inspire us to mobilise and be vocal.

"We have to make sure there's equal rights for everyone and that they're protected."
