In news that is entirely not fictitious, The Queen reportedly loves nothing more than settling down on a Saturday evening to meander through Netflix, and has had nothing but good things to say about its expensive royal drama The Crown.

According to the Sunday Express, The Queen was encouraged to watch the series by her son and daughter-in-law, the Earl and Countess of Wessex, who had previously become enthralled by the true-life saga. The Queen herself reportedly resisted bingeing the entire series in one go, however, and instead arranged for weekly viewings of the 10-part season during her regular Saturday night 'TV time' at Windsor Castle.

A royal source told the paper: "Edward and Sophie love The Crown. It has been a longstanding arrangement that they drive to Windsor at the weekend to join the Queen for an informal supper while watching TV or a film.

"They have a Netflix account and urged her to watch it with them. Happily, she really liked it, although obviously there were some depictions of events that she found too heavily dramatised."

But while Her Majesty allegedly loved the thrilling drama of the show's first season, she may take pause before jumping into its second run, which is believed will start up in November. According to series creator Peter Morgan, the show's second season will feature Prince Philip having an affair -- something that was the source of much speculation throughout the Fifties, which is when the next season will be set.

"Doesn't everyone in Britain know he had an affair?" Morgan asked during a panel discussing the Netflix sensation.

Philip was previously linked to actress Pat Kirkwood and TV star Katie Boyle, though neither affair has ever been confirmed. He was also speculated to have brought a mysterious woman onto the Royal Yacht Britannia while touring overseas.
