Vets have spoken against the growing popularity of “sausage cats”, a breed with a genetic disorder that results in unusually short legs.

The cute appearance of munchkins, which love to sit on their haunches with their front paws held up, and their celebrity owners such as Paris Hilton, are fuelling demand for the pets, according to experts. Hilton often posts pictures of her munchkin, called Shorty, on Instagram, where she has 6.5 million followers.
