Berlin The wrought-iron gate to the Dachau concentration camp that was stolen two years ago appears to have been found in western Norway, police said. The gate, bearing the slogan arbeit macht frei — work sets you free — was located in Bergen after an anonymous tip-off.

Police said there was a “high probability it is the gate stolen in Dachau”. The camp, near Munich, was established by the Nazis in 1933. “The door will be delivered to the German authorities as soon as possible,” a police spokeswoman in Bergen said. More than 200,000 people were held at Dachau and 40,000 died there. (AP)
