MITCHELL, S.D. —  A Moorhead, Minnesota, man has been arrested after allegedly breaking into a woman’s home as she showered and assaulting her for 90 minutes, including a scissor jab into her ear.

Eustace Miles, 48, entered the woman’s residence between 10 and 10:30 a.m. July 17 and confronted the woman as she was taking a shower, court documents state.

The victim told authorities she was repeatedly assaulted for about 90 minutes, and Miles refused to let her leave until she promised she would not report the incident, according to court documents. He allegedly punched her head and struck her with a belt, extension cord, clock radio and lantern.

He then allegedly held a pair of scissors up to her eye and threatened to kill her and then jabbed the scissors inside her ear.

The victim drove to Avera Queen of Peace Hospital with Miles following, court documents state, but he left shortly after arriving at the medical center. Mitchell patrol officers tracked down the suspect and arrested him.

Miles was charged with felony first-degree kidnapping and felony aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon and could face up to 25 years in prison.

The relationship between the suspect and victim was unclear Sunday.
